Our Prison Lockdown Has Gone on for Four Months

[Update! As of 8/16, the prison is still in lockdown and the warden and others have been fired.]

I’m writing this today because many people on the other side of the walls have no idea what or why prison lock downs happen. I fully understand you all out there only get one side of the story and that’s the side of the prison officials telling the media what they want the public to know.

There are many reasons that prison officials come up with for prolonged lockdowns. The main reason is because when every inmate is locked in their cell, the prison staff members have way less work to do. It makes their jobs a cake walk and who wouldn’t want to come to work and kick back and get paid to shoot the shit, play on the computer and not have to deal with inmates?

Look, I get it. That’s what I would want if I was a CO.

But is it right for prison officials to come to work and get paid by all you taxpayers to do nothing? Well, that’s your call as a taxpayer. A lot of the prison staff members make over $100K a year. So your talking good money to sit on your ass and play video games on the computer, lol.

I find it sort of funny. After all my years in prison I couldn’t care less about lockdowns. As I write this, Waupun Correctional Institution in Wisconsin is on a prolonged lockdown. Waupun has been on lockdown since March 27, 2023, and there is no telling when it will end. Waupun told the media that it was a modified lockdown. Let me tell you what that means. On this so-called “modified lockdown,” we are lucky if we get one shower a week. That means only one set of clothing a week. Try keeping on the same underwear for a week or longer. That’s fucking nasty but it’s a reality in Waupun and this will be for months to come. Imagine 24-hours-a-day locked in your cell non-stop. Not seeing outside sun light at all!

Waupun’s justification for such a long lockdown is because they are short of staff and there’s violence along with contraband inside the prison. Let me break this down for you.

Understaffed

The prison report states that Waupun is 47% understaffed. This is true and it gives the prison officials justification to lock inmates in their cells until they can get the Correctional Officers numbers up. Now what the public does not know, Waupun Correctional Institution has fixed their staff shortage by bringing other Correctional Officers from other Institutions to work overtime here at Waupun. So now that we know there really is no staff shortage at Waupun … onto the next reason for their prolonged lockdown.

Violence

Now to the violence inside prison walls. Yes, we do have a lot of violence in prison. Given the major violence happening inside, the prisons think they have justification to lock the prison down until they can get the prison under control. Without violence, the prison would have no reason to keep the prison on a prolonged lockdown like Waupun is doing.

Why is there so much violence inside prison you may ask yourself? Well as crazy as it may sound that’s how the prison officials need it to be in order to keep the prison the way they want to run it. Let me explain. Without violence, the prison officials can’t justify the need for extra money for their so-called training days and their weapons and their paid off time when a Correctional Officer is hurt by an altercation with a inmate. And when I say “hurt,” it can be anything from a little cut on a hand or the Correctional Officer says he is mentally messed up from whatever the case was. They really got this shit sweet and I like it because if I was on that side I would want it that way also. Correctional Officers can get up to 6 months off paid for reasons listed above. Thanks tax payers.

So now knowing a little about violence let me give you a little more. Inmate on inmate violence is what a prison needs to get all the federal government funding and justification for reasons of lockdowns etc. So inmate violence is truly what the prison officials want. This is not a joke. It’s a fact but inmates are too dumb to understand all this. Without violence, prison wouldn’t have all the benefits it does for their staff members. Being a person in the real world you may or may not care what happens to people inside prison walls but I know you care about your money. And it costs a lot of taxpayer money to run all the prison in this country. If you all really knew the truth of how your government is playing the shit out of you with your money.

I’m in this situation right now related to all this. Here’s the story.

So months ago, an inmate from behind his locked cell door throws a container of piss at me, knowing full well I can’t get to him — and he does this in front of a Correctional Officer. So they take him to Seg [segregation].

I have no idea who he was or why he did it but that doesn’t matter now because this will end in only one way, if I’m around him again. And the prison officials know this. So now, if you’re a prison official looking for some violence, what would you do? Yes, you hit it on the head, they would bring the inmate who dashed me with piss back to the same cell hall as I’m in. I don’t make threats so please understand I will not make any remarks about this until after the fact. But don’t worry, I will write about it after the fact:)

I was informed by a Correctional Officer that the inmate that dashed me with piss is refusing to return to this cell hall with me as of now. But in due time he will get sick of Seg and come back. And this how the prison officials get their violence. Its smart if you ask me, dirty but smart.

Contraband

Last thing listed above was contraband inside prison. Now what can I say about that? This may be the only thing that the prison officials don’t want. But you keep people locked in cages for years with nothing but what the prison offers them just will never work. So people get drugs, cell phones and porn inside prison. It is what it is. But you have too many dumb MFs in prison who get cell phones and do dumb shit like go on prisonwriters.com and make comments on my stories.

I mean how dumb can you be to think the prison staff don’t read the stories on prisonwriters? I just had some dumb ass make a commit on one of last stories. I mean really whoever you are if you have something to say, say it to me, don’t put everybody who has a cell phone at risk by your dumb action. But now Waupun is undergoing a major shakedown looking for contraband like cell phones. And let me tell you they found hundreds of phones in Waupun in the last 2 months of this lockdown we are on. And it don’t matter no more but yes this prison had cell phones like no other prison in Wisconsin. It was cool as shit. But all good things come to a end. And this is one more reason the prison officials are using to justify this lockdown. But I think they have all the cell phones now. So they shouldn’t keep this lockdown going but they are.

All I was told by the prison staff was this lockdown will last until the end of summer of 2023. The prison officials like this and I get it. They’ve been unfit for this lock big time. So every little thing they can come up with to justify it they will — be it violence, staff shortage or contraband. But just remember if they can’t find a way to justify it, they make it.

I mean what did you really think? That the prison officials don’t lie? Come on, they do so much dirty shit inside here it would make your head spin. Case in point: the inmate that dashed me with piss, placing him around me again in hopes, what? We would become BFFs, lol? Get the fuck out of here. They know just what they are doing. It is what it is and that’s the story on prison lockdowns. This is a whole other world inside the prison walls.
